Posting comments

I'm afraid I've decided to turn off the ability of anonymous users to post comments to the site. They're already moderated, but it's getting tiresome dealing with deleting several dozen spam comments a day.

So I'm afraid from now on, in order to post a comment to this site you do have to be a registered user.

In fact, even then any comments you do post will be subject to moderation until I'm satisfied you're a real person and not a spammer, at which point you get added to the list of users who can post comments without moderation. This is because some of the smarter spammers realised a while ago that users could post comments unmoderated, and started registering themselves as users. Hence the two-tier system. Basically once you post comments that show yourself to be not a spammer, you get to post unmoderated.

Sorry to the genuine people who were posting anonymously, if for whatever reason you don't feel able or willing to set up a user for yourself. :-(
